meanwhile, irl

The grass across the road is waist high already. Time to make some hay, but I don't think anyone cuts it any more. The irises popped out for Mother's Day and then a couple weeks of hard rains pounded them right out. First fleurs out since all that are the lilies.

Don't let this fool you just because it's by the house and looks pretty like that. It's a spider tree. I live in Mirkwood.

I think about a lot of things every time I walk by that tree. First thought is Snarkalecs because lichen, but after that is a slew of thoughts about moss on the north side, life in a microcosm, and everything I've ever heard about bark like teas and deer and salicylates.

That little guy thinks he found a good spot... It's amazing how far seeds travel, because there isn't another cedar around my front yard. I don't know if squirrels or spiders or gnomes do that, but it reminds me of the ents on Mo Creatures always 'redecorating' my yards.

Someone got a sandbox. I grew up in a whole desert of sand, so this cracks me up.

Looks like this farmer is about to hit the big time with the archaeological find of the century.

I am so jealous of these.

Somebody likes to cook. I heard he helped make quiche from scratch. Batquiche.

Proof that our little blur stood still for something, but it took several tries.

Literally wrestled her into this dress. Does *not* stop moving. Took 2 people.

And we wait.

moonlight and stars

Antibiotic brain after I unfollowed a bunch of accounts again this last month, right? I almost kept the steampunk account but decided it was too sexist because no men or machinery, just beautiful women, which I'm not against at all, but it was disappointing me.

So last night I dreamed I was decked out full blown steampunk, lotta awesome and looking hella cool, and especially my marcasite boots. Yes, you heard me, marcasite. Solid marcasite. Yes, the entire boot. In case you are not familiar with marcasite, the boots would look the same as this stuff. Click to see way more, that is a really conservative start.

And I was late for a final college exam with a visiting friend in tow (another account I might have unfollowed?), some guy from some country who I couldn't tell was crushing on or using me to step up to the next level somehow, and the final consisted of doing surgery, which was funny because I had told someone at my dad's house to hang on because I would be back after class to do surgery on him after a weird accident that had blown some twisted parts into his gut.

Anyway, there was running through buildings because parking is never close, and it was raining, and one of the classes along the way was a Stargate class full of awesome stuff (ok, that one I got, pretty sure that dream thing came from @thegatecast wishing me a happy birthday this week). And of course I left my lab tools at home, so I had to use the nearly useless generic equipment scrounged up around class (I really do have lab surgical tools in my real house), but I still pulled off a successful surgery, and then I remember facepalming and having to tell my friend to put his pants back on, after which he valiantly (very publicly awkwardly) proposed and I suggested maybe we get a hamburger and think about it because I was starving.

And then I woke up.

So what does marcasite represent? I used to work a jewelry counter, and I've handled and worn a lot of marcasite, really love it.
Marcasite- Healing Properties, Color, Power & Facts | Jewelexi

"Choosing to consciously make new experiences rugged looking Marcasite has a multiple personalities. This dark, grey-pyrite helps the wearer to walk through new doorways to philosophical and reflective change. It is also believed to infuse courage in the wearing individual and is referred to as "fool's gold". Known to be a desirable gemstone among people, it is as well acknowledged as pyrite because of its same chemical formula though has different crystal system and inherent qualities.

...Made up of iron sulphide, it is an interesting mineral that has been confused with other types of minerals for generations. Known to be a brittle stone it can crumble easily and is lighter than pyrite. Usually yellow in color, this striking stone has a brassy look added to it. With a twinned crystal habit, this unique distinctive gemstone occurs when the surface to form the head of a hen. Mythologically associated with pyrite like properties, it is well known among Chinese, Greeks and Mayans for thousands of years. Having a calming effect, Marcasite attracts wealth and inspire creativity. It frees the wearing individual from the feelings of hopelessness, over-sensitiveness and help to re-calibrate, re-assess, re-design, release, and reincarnation. Being gentle with the wearer's body, it holds on the wearer grounded as well as balanced."

Sounds about right. I didn't even know that. There's lots more if you want to click over and read it.

And it was on my FEET. Wonder what that means.
What does it mean to dream about Shoes?

"A dream about shoes may symbolize how you are moving forward on your career path or spiritual path in life.

May represent your understanding of something, since your shoes are under you when you stand."

There's lots more about whether the shoes fit, where you're wearing them, if you change shoes in a dream, losing or forgetting them, and the type of shoe. For instance, mine were boots.

"Boots may symbolize taking a firm stand on something; or it may be a pun on “getting the boot” or getting fired. “These Boots are Made for Walking” also comes to mind."

So I'm walking around in these magical healing boots doing surgeries. Sure, why not. I'll take it.

That guy, though. Really not interested in that way, and seriously could not tell if he had an agenda behind all the pizzazz, so I just let him tag along at arm's length, because I did enjoy him. Not exactly the greatest person to arrive late with to a surgery exam though.

The rest of my week is wide open. I haven't been able to say that at the end of any month this entire year. There is so much I want to get done. Guess we'll see what happens.

Starrstrukk

sunset in the tundra

Lotta backpedaling on the medias now about the orange packaging thing I referred to yesterday. While I agree the packaging thing needs a closer look because biodegradable and whatevs, I can't help noticing, along with others, that the whole debate is once again detracting from the sales targets, elevating the importance of a packaging discussion over the importance of a disability discussion. Everyone's a spin doctor nowadays.

But that's not why Pinky blog is here, is it? Pinky usually doesn't drag draggy stuff here. There are plenty of other bloggers handling the big stuffs.

Before I was Pinky, I was Bluejacky and my main coping mechanism from that era transitioned into Surveypalooza. But I'm not doing silly surveys any more for survival distraction, am I? One of the gaping holes in my Pinky life has been a severe lack of survival distraction since I went public.

Well guess what- I'm surviving. For realz. Starrstrukk is where I'll be now in between Pinky blog, SyfyDesigns, twitter, Lexxperience, and multiplayer. Oh, and real life. Whole buncha real life last 24 hours.

It's been a few weeks since we've had a really big Bunny day around here, and last night was a sleepover. We've srsly gotta get a swingset and stuff.

In case you didn't know where sox and shoes come from.

Getting those pesky fake ladybugs littering the floor.

Papa set up her little tent in the livingroom. Somebody's a ham. She was trying to pretend she was asleep and couldn't resist looking to see if I was taking the picture.

That kid wiggled all over the place last night, right out of the tent. I don't think even a king sized bed would be big enough for her. This was 5 a.m. after I got my coffee.

And this was about 7ish or 8ish a.m., looking all wiped out like a teenager or something after she'd been up bouncing around at 6 a.m.

Oopsie, hit publish before I was ready. Really wasn't going to say much more.

I'm in a really mellow mood this weekend. I said what I've been needing to say to the one I needed to say it to for so long. I don't think my soul has ever felt so at rest.

October looms

One of those clean off the phone days where I move what I can to pinterest and delete several hundred pix. Amazing how that can wear out your hands. If I weren't a blogger I'd spend most of my time on pinterest and photoshopping stuff. And if I weren't an internet person I'd be crocheting. This was a years-ago project. I haven't crocheted since.

So I'm curious whether I can lose 50 pounds by Christmas. The last time I had a major food allergy blow up on me and had to drastically change my diet I lost 50 pounds. If that happens I'll be fairly skinny again. That would be pretty sweet. In the meantime, every little bit I go through another "D'oh!" moment. The last d'oh was oh, punkin bread...

I am very distracted all the time now. Busy, busy, busy. Juggling while I tap dance. Losing track of time like crazy, forgetting to check my phone (usually on mute and notifications mostly off), starting to slip on which month it is again, writing appointments down on weeks that have already passed. I'm dreading October coming up, I think. Once I get past the 3rd I think I'll be ok. I don't use the word poignant a lot, I think it's been way overused by too many people in media. But this time of year has become excruciatingly poignant for me, and the moments stab me every time I look up and notice autumn coming. Yet I want to dive in head first and really feel autumn.

Keep moving! Stay busy! GET TO WORK! I stared out the window far too long all those years.
