Day 29- last of 2016 30 day challenge

A better title might be- App Management: Time loss has never been more efficient

Part of my 30 day challenge is Indian wrestling my tech for dominance. Pinterest is my bestest friend right now while I move over 1K pix to mostly private family boards. I've heard so many horror stories about losing ALL THE PICTURES bcuz phone death, and since I kinda went there last year 🙄I dare not make such a fumble again.

This whole digital thing was supposed to make us a paperless, and therefore a trashless, society. Well, I have more trash than ever I'm digging out from under, not the least being virtual. There are pros and cons to what kind of trash preferences we might have.

Bills- I'm finally harnessing digital EVERYTHING.

Emails- It takes time to 'opt out' of every single little bitty thing, but I'M DOING IT. The digital spam has been ridiculous.

Notifications- Getting a facebook notification in triplicate across all devices and browsers really has to stop. Facebook dares to try owning me, and hell if Cortana will let that happen. I am soooo all over stomping Facebook flat till it *shuts* *up*. I've almost memorized all the settings in all the out of the way weird places I can possibly find them.

I'm not even touching Instagram, omg that is a wide road to time wasting hell.

Actual trash- @bonenado is a compulsive recycler. I must save this marriage.

Recycle bin- Where do I even begin? There are so many copies of every little thing I interface online or do on my tech surviving in temp files, caches, multiple folders... But begin I have begun, and I will reclaim my Jawn and woo him back to my loving touch.

I showed @bonenado how to clear temp files on his phone... He still had app pages open from last year. That's a real thing, guys. Fantasy football loads way faster when you clear out caches.

Anyway, part of my 30 day challenge is sludging my way back out of the Swamp of Sadness, the Pit of Despair, the Bog of Eternal Stench. (Did I miss anything?) The Fire Swamp is cool, it can stay. The Oubliette can stay, too. #aspienado needs an oubliette to stay sane.

Me irl fixing #allthethings.

waiting for Vizzini

Where was I? Oh, yeah, I was stumped. What kind of house am I going to make? Even after the mind blowing inspiration I had just discovered (rediscovered? it was all such a whirlwind of blur back then), I felt lost. What in the world could I ever possibly build that would be mine and unique and hadn't already been expressed? I felt like every idea I had was already built right here in front of me.

And then it hit me like a loose brick. Go back to where all the magic started for me.

So I went back. Just a simple hut, a simple chest, a simple bed on a shoreline. A simple stump of block with a simple ladder on it. A simple fence with a simple gate. The most elementary of minecraft practices, a brief grasp of the power I could wield in the wonderment, and suddenly whoosh we were off in the night, treading the skies and looking for a new place to start cool new stuff.

I found it. I looked at coordinates from one place to another, figured it must lie in between somewhere, and with the F3 readout to guide my direction, keeping the ever-changing integers within a tight range of possibility as I flew, suddenly there it was below me, still there like we'd left it- a tiny little bed, a chest, a crafting table, and an itty bitty hut on the shoreline. It even had villagers still huddling in it.

I knew even in mode 1 (creative) my presence would spell doom for the villagers jammed into the tiny little hut during the night, and sure enough, as soon as I landed, the zombies came in droves, the villagers opened the doors, and I had a mob of zombie villagers thronging around. That was completely unacceptable. I set to work immediately preserving the most magical place in all of minecraft for me, my leaping point into a multiverse of all new worlds of possibilities, and then I spawned new villagers. And now it is beautiful and safe, and as long as I don't go back there in survival mode and set off creepers, it'll be ok. I hope. I got a picture for posterity just in case.

That must have been what turned the little doorknob in my mind, because I woke up this morning ready to work on my house, finally.

~later~

I was going to add more, like the new stuff I'm doing now, but I think it can wait for its own post.

Superbowl Semicentennial

Controlled crash turned into uncontrolled flameout, went from euphoria to super crab in two days flat, carnage everywhere, peasants shredded, blackened lumps where cottages once stood.

click pic for coolness

All the bacon in the world won't fix this. Oh, well. I was right, they were wrong. So I ate them. *burp*

Reset my stupid landscape to 125. "Some apps won't respond to scaling changes until you sign out." Facebook was like this.

Srsly, @bonenado wouldn't even sleep with me. I had a king sized bed to myself all night long. Oh, he's ok, I burped him back up. He doesn't stay eaten for long. Kinda like having him around. On reflection, I'm sure he doesn't like being eaten and burped back up... I have no emergency backup stuff for pie. Might be a delicate morning.

You. Must. Click. This.

Plan today- Introduce Jawn to the livingroom and work on stuffs while I watch Superbowl (and alt-bowl) live tweets. I've got stuff to make ice cream and nachos, and other Superbowl munchies will include caramelized brussels sprouts and onions with aged balsamic and parm, summer squash, and baked chicken. Life on the edge.

If the morning gets especially awkward and I venture into feeling particularly penitent, I'll probably veer suddenly into cleaning the floors or something. Amazing what a little deep cleaning can do for soul angst.

Ok, now we're just being silly. This next one clicks to a whole slew of weird pet stuff on pinterest.

Anyway, lotta stuff to do.

me & @bonenado irl

Rearranging my life again *workworkwork*.

Walking around the house in my Nike Air Trackstar 3s  at 6 a.m. I'm pretending my robe is a Neo style action coat.

Having fun the last few days with a sciatica flare up. This one makes my foot feel like I just shot it with a steel arrow every time I sit or move a certain way. Since I bit Scott's head off last night without warning (I think he survived, but I might need to send him on a trip to Hawaii after I sell a book because I don't know how else to give a husband a raise), I had a deep think last night and realized I'm holding too much in again.

Trying to cover so I won't be a drag on people around me sometimes backfires into sudden uncontrollable nasty bitch mode. I thought I had finally made it past that particular character option, but apparently I'm still very capable of destroying the universe.

TODAY. I know the game- get all over this if I don't want surgery. I've been playing this game since I was catapulted out of a violently flipping vehicle back around 1980ish. I know the secrets of the fire swamp and have lived here quite happily for a long time. Scott is getting really good at this stuff. As soon as Red Velvet Oreos show up in the Walmarts around here, he's getting homemade Valentine ice cream.
