Monday escapism

To people with big money, the real world is like minecraft.

this click is not an endorsement for a candidate
There are tons of different kinds of minecraft servers with different ways of playing multiplayer. The multiplayer I joined has a towny plugin.

"Towny is a versatile, player-controlled land management plugin for use with Bukkit/Tekkit/Spigot/Libigot. Towny offers solutions for pvp, griefing, chat, inflated economies and monsters to minecraft server admins. Towny allows players to work together and against each other as they see fit. Find here the best Minecraft Towny servers."

My crew is a bit busy and scattered, ok, one abandoned the server for WoW, but I'm hoping to be learning more about running a town in August. I'm a vip in Rivyndell, but I don't know what all that means yet. I'm looking into it.

A word about real life politics- If you guys think it's too much work to learn minecraft township code, then you really need to calm down a bit about political leaders. They have a LOT of stuff going on, and all the public hype is just that, hype to keep people wound up, because if they didn't, we'd all be passive mobs like the cows in minecraft, following players around for hay and then walking off when there isn't any. (I just made a sideways statement about the un-hyped proles being smart AIs.)

Staying sane through the weekend involved more tweaking on a village I had lit up and then lost track of about 6 weeks ago and then accidentally found again during a flyover. It had already been ransacked, and the nearly buried desert temple a ways off had already been pillaged, but this location is fantastic and everything still nearly all intact, so of course I went about replanting the gardens and fencing out the mobs. I had previously agonized over saving a desert village in singleplayer survival (details at StarrStrukk) and later in multiplayer (villagers still around, too, huzzah!), so I used this opportunity to play with more greenway landscaping and town beautification. Of all the things I do on minecraft, aside from tunneling, I seem really drawn to fixing villages.

This was early on. This is in multiplayer, so I mark wherever I've been in case of griefing since I don't pay for the land ownership protection in some areas. I can't really stop anyone, but it's there for other players to enjoy if they want to.

Several weeks ago (couple of months?) an admin tossed 42 blocks of turfed dirt blocks at me for some unknown reason and I just tucked them away in a chest with no idea what to do with them. Well, this weekend I remembered them and had a ball. Turfed dirt blocks (can be harvested only with silk touch pick axe) will help spread grass to other dirt blocks around them, which is very convenient. If I wanted to, I could replace all the sand in the town with dirt and eventually have grass all over, but for now, I like this 'greenway' effect.

That light in the distance is the buried desert temple. I'm thinking about fencing around it and plowing all the sand out, make it look a bit more metro.

I always light my rooftops everywhere I go. I've had aggressive mobs drop on me out of the blue off rooftops so many times, so lighting up the place keeps them from spawning inside the village. Also, it looks really cool during flyovers.

See that well down there? That's about the only way you can keep anything that moves from drowning in the well. Knock a wall out and put a dirt block up for leverage. I drowned in that well yesterday trying to get a cow out. It was very deep. When I respawned and went back I had to sink to the bottom to recover all my stuff before I swam back up and got out.

I love birch trees being so easy. I couldn't believe this worked out so well.

I'm also getting the hang of melons and pumpkins. I've mostly been ignoring them, but they're neat to have around.

This vid got a little long, but I was waiting for dawn to watch the werewolf turn back into a guy. You can see how nice using glass blocks is as a mob protection, most of them can't get over and you can still see what's going on out there. I also love taunting aggressive mobs.

You guys know I'm all over the Benny C at SDCC vids. I'll leave a couple here for you.

Oh, and before I go. Yes, this happened. Most of you have no idea I really do hope to be book signing at SDCC sometime in my life (yes, hopefully because of Lexx and other stuff). (Several other Lexx fans have published already, very cool.) It's a bucket list item that I've never said anywhere before, so there you go. It's really hard maintaining positivity (take the test) in the face of challenges like mine, but it's a thing I do hold onto as something to hopefully keep me moving forward. Clicks out to original convo. I've been very thrilled and fortunate watching Ellen thrive, and I'm so happy for her, and especially that someone LEXX is really making it out there.

ALL THE THINGS

Wow, already all over the map and it's not even 5:30 yet. Be careful clicking this, there's a bee cat in there.

So I'll be bouncing around all day between chores and prepping the Pope Giggy post (hopefully way easier on the brain than the Girltown thesis) and looking at all the things at SDCC, so I need to just move along.

Can you tell I'm excited? I'm Lexxcited.

mystery coffee

So @bonenado's all like I must have a brain disease because he sleepwalked before it was even the middle of the night and made coffee and went back to bed, popped awake hours later long enough to go turn the pot back off and go back to bed, and then got back up an hour later trying to put the pieces back together while I made a fresh pot because that pot was toast.

This is me gearing up for the big SDCC hashtag watch.

The last time I did this (pre pregnant mama-burrito-Bunny) was 2012, awake for 2 weeks straight filtering incoming into a sweet little feed of my own while I watched everything live about anything having to do with Merlin at San Diego Comic-Con, back to back with the live filming in Pierrefonds. Because of that little maneuver, I got picked up for a hawt feed on conferize behind my back and didn't even know it. I went ahead and claimed the account and have been getting invitations to some pretty sweet conferences around the world ever since, some at virtually no cost. I never log in and network, so I have no followers, but it's pretty cool that I have a special con-only feed out there. Ok, enough yapping, need to round up my day and get my surf board ready.

completely ignorable scattered mess, step over and move on

Amusing myself in between chores. 6:30 a.m. and already dishes and laundry are nearly done, started assembling tonight's hotdish (precooked the rice). Kind of easy when I can't get my brain to crawl out from under my chair and get back into my head. Fans who put things like this together are geniuses.

Actually getting through one of my darker weeks. Really don't like sharing what it's like in my head when I'm like this, but this vid covers it nicely.

Then there's real life stuff. Always fun discovering that the second reroofing job wasn't done properly and how in the world we haven't had entire sheets of shingles slide right off over the last 8 years is amazing, considering the straight line winds and even a microburst that tore parts of the roof off one winter, since roofing nails apparently seem to be missing across great chunks that are finally starting to slip around. No, we're not stressing at all, wettest summer on record....

So, Fourth of July. I'm sure we'll get a few poppers for Bunny. Doubt we grill, we're too tired. Besides, couple of birthdays coming up this month, planning and prep for those will probably include the grill at least once.

I keep reminding myself my parents were slowly losing a 200 acre farm at this age before the final drop off a bankruptcy cliff when the cattle market bottomed out, and our little woes are nothing against the lawyers and banks that got involved with that one. We're still eating well, we have a roof over our heads (insert chuckle here), both vehicles are still running (hope I didn't just jinx myself), and my biggest fear every day is running into a giant spider in the house. So we're good.

Ok, getting the mind off. My brain snuck in unexpectedly while I was distracted with whining. Seriously, guys, I have about fallen over so many times this last month watching my Lexxperience traffic double and triple out of the blue, and now it's just crazy. My top post currently has exactly 300 views on it. I think the blogger widget for all-time and 30-day top posts is broken, because it's not being reflected as a top post in either one. Might just take those widgets off. Anyway, now I have super guilt for letting that blog sit so long without updating, so bat outa hell time. *writewritewrite* I threw this snip into photobucket, click it if you think you absolutely hafta see it bigger. Have a feeling Giggy will give Thodin a run for his money.

Also just found out this week that Ellen is going to SDCC, too, so that's Lexxciting.

And I really hafta share this one, thanx to TScott on FB, really made my night last night. What I wanna know is how the heck this chick suddenly got verified, and as whom, actually. Do the twitter gods think she's the real Sarah Connor because the flurry of response? I'm verified all over G+, wordpress, and pinterest, and I can't get verified on twitter actually following directions.

I'm getting very rambly. Time to focus. Got some writing to do. I hope whoever made this one is unrequited, because that's just a little disturbing, but then, so is what I'm writing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adding this as an afterthought, don't click the snip if you don't want your day ruined. People who've lurked me since the Bluejacky days will recognize this interest. Want a password? ~ask me privately~ (EDIT: I took the password off. Someone's gotta be brave enough to say stuff, and I wanna stay true to lurkers. There's a reason people lurk. I understand both sides.)
I don't play head games. I know some of you watch me on twitter and wonder what the hell I'm doing. Others of you wonder why I'm cool with lurkers that never comment.
God bless America. Yes, I'm in a bad mood. I need a better vid. Someone hug me.
EDIT: By the way, in case people think I make a big deal out of the old days, it's because stuff like this happens after I write stuff like this. I've been watching this go on for years. Since there's no sign whatever of spam being blocked, I can only imagine a bot was put on to hack my password. I really don't know. Maybe it's what's on the front page, I dunno. Bluejacky was the stalkiest blog I ever made. The book is really coming. Whoever's getting spooked, calm down. I'm not out for that kind of blood.
